Regina Camping - Sept., 2008
Carol, Jerry and Hector camping on Regina Land

The moss draped trees in this view on our hike into San Gregorio Reservoir does not even look like a New Mexico scene.
San Gregorio Reservoir is located in the San Pedro Parks Wilderness. This part of NM apparently gets a lot more rain than Albuquerque. It actually rained/sleeted on us briefly during our hike.

After a hike of about a mile we arrived at San Gregorio Reservoir. Carol and I had hiked here about 16 years ago with her 4 children on the first family backpacking trip with an old canvas tent and textbooks as Mike and Kevin had high school final exams the following week.

Hector was having a big day meeting large creatures. He watched two cows walk by at the edge of the Reservoir and earlier on the trail we passed a horse mounted bow hunter on his way to his elk camp.

Back at our Regina land relaxing with a glass of wine after our hike.
Carol's Airstream shining in the late afternoon sun. We joined a local association that provides good water, better than what we have in Albuquerque. Propane runs the stove and refrigerator. We rely on a generator for brief electrical needs like the water heater or the microwave but most of our evening lighting is from candles.
We only brought 10 month old Hector, one of our 3 labs on this trip and he was a bit timid without his father, Echo and "Uncle" Blue.

Being the only dog, he got away with more liberties.

This is the view looking from the kitchen toward the bed and bath area.

Moon rise over the Nacimiento Range.

The moon was two days from being full and was so bright that it interfered with stargazing. We got up at 5AM to watch the moon set then the stars came out in all their glory. There were so many that it took awhile to find the familiar ones that we see in Albuquerque from the multitude. The Milky Way was easily seen as was a pass of the International Space Station.

Due to restrictions on campfires, we enjoyed our kerosene lamps after sunset.
The next morning, Carol treated us to blueberry pancakes for breakfast.
Technically, this is camping, but it definitely is not roughing it!
