End of camping season at Regina
October, 2008
This is a nice overview of our Regina land showing our campsite overlooking a valley and the Nacimiento range in the background. We brought the Airstream up in April and have enjoyed coming back to use it throughout the summer and fall.
The forest is mostly pine with small pockets of Aspen showing their fall color. |
Carol is out for a walk with Hector in the valley below us. |
Hiking here with a dog on the loose is safe and comfortable because we are more than a mile from a paved road. |
Playing on the hills |
Hector likes to play with a stick but he is not the consummate fetch dog like Blue. |
He is good at snuggling up with us in the sun while we read the paper after breakfast. |
He is also good at spilling your wine while you are enjoying the late afternoon sun. |

Carol relaxing by her vintage Airstream |
A wonderful sunset leads to a chill in the air and time to go inside. |

Carol loves to decorate with an eclectic mix of styles. |
Ready for a cup of tea in the covers! |

I am relaxing in the sun while Carol is out gathering pine nuts. |
Pignolias or pine nuts from the Pinon Pine have hard but thin shells that need to be cracked and peeled off to reveal the white nutmeat. Carol uses a salt shaker to crack the nuts. |
Carol browned the pine nuts in a hot dry frying pan then added some butter. Here she has combined them with fried pork loin and spinach that was briefly cooked in the drippings. A good meal is best enjoyed with wine and candlelight. |
All packed up the next day to take the Airstream home just before a storm front moves in. I am already looking foreward to returning next spring. |
